FORD AND MACARTHUR FOUNDATIONS PUMP $5 MILLION INTO NIGERIA YOUTH FUTURES FUND
Nigeria Youth Futures Fund is positioned to produced new-age Young and capable Nigerian Leaders
World famous charity and philanthropy sister organizations, the Ford Foundation and MacArthur Foundation have launched a seed funding of $5 million in the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund.
Structured to enhance educational opportunities, nurture relationships between various tier of government and the youth, foster stability in the region and increase leadership capability, the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund hopes to generate $15 million to drive the above aims and objectives of the mission.
Making this know through a communique in Lagos, Nigeria the Ford Foundation and MacArthur Foundation disclosed its laudable agenda by the launch of the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF), with it's budget funding of $5 million which will see to it that youth leadership in the region is strengthened and fostered.
To further enforce, execute and closely monitor this project is the collaboration between the Ford Foundation and MacArthur Foundation with a forward driven, NGO, LEAP Africa.
This project, inspired by the #EndSARS movement will also see to it that will the lessons learnt during the youth-led civil rights agitation with further contribute to support and strengthen the youth leadership ecosystem in Nigeria.
The Nigeria Youth Futures Fund is a project that is positioned the attract more youths to play active roles in the politics of the day in Nigeria - as Nigeria is a country which is known for not assimilating the youth force into active politics, as elders tend to fill and control all available sensitive political offices, until recently when a bill fully backing and supporting active youth participation in politics was signed into law by the country's president, Muhammadu Buhari.
Nigerian youths under 30 years of age account for more than seventy percent of the country's population and this estimation is expected to grow over the next coming years. In this respect, experts have surmised that for the youths of the country to be able to harness and play active roles in the country's polity will be for them to be well educated, skilled and groomed on how to manage different levels of social, polical and civic processes.
The Nigeria Youth Futures Fund is a collaborative fund with a $3 million input from the Ford Foundation and $2 million from the MacArthur Foundation all these monies will be supervised and put to good use by LEAP Africa, with a mission to raise and addition $15 million from partner organizations.
Young people 35 years and below who are interested making meaningful contributions in the area of leadership including those who wish to be involved in the formation long lasting development strategies for the progress of the Nigerian state, also those who need education or skill acquisition to level up to the leadership requirements of the day and to bring their leadership goals up to par, should
